When I pulled up to the parking attendant at the beach she announced that it would be $14! I did a double-take at the sign which said $6, and she explained that it was the holiday rate today. I know I'm in vacation mode but could I really have forgotten a holiday?! So I said, "Today is a holiday??" I guess in RI they celebrate "Victory Day" on the second Monday of August. So explains the traffic and HUGE crowd at the beach!
I couldn't help but chuckle at my continued bad luck on this trip so far, but actually my luck was about to change...
I sweetly asked if there were any other places to park since I was only planning on being there for a couple of hours at the most. There wasn't if I didn't want to be fined, then suddenly she said, "Can you do $7?" What a sweetheart! I said "Absolutely!" and handed her a $20, which didn't help my case I embarrassingly realized, but then she said, "I know it's ridiculous to have to pay that if you're just going to be here for a short time." Wow, something actually went well for me this week - ha!
Enough of my chatter, on to the best part: Gage's first beach (and sand!) experience...
First we found a shady spot to have lunch. Check out the new stroller!
Still clean and sand-free!
Getting closer...
Can't resist it... What is this stuff??
It doesn't taste very good!

And it isn't very easy to clean off a baby I soon discovered.
Mmmm...so delicious. I could just eat him up!

I love that first picture of the beach with all the people and the sky. Very cool. :) If Gage gets sandy again, try baby powder! I keep some in the van and sprinkle it on the girls hands and feet after they've been in a sandbox. Makes the sand brush right off! :)
Good tip! Thanks Jenny!!
